What is an ezine or e-zine?
An electronic magazine. Many ezines are online versions of print magazines. - techdictionary.com
A great ezine will provide high-value information to it's readers on a specific topic.
A great ezine will benefit it's readers by:
Saving time searching for critical information. Power nuggets of information would be sent by email to your inbox in bite size chunks.
Providing relevant information zooming
in on very specific topics.
Regularly informing readers with of up-to-date and timely information.
Who are you targeting?
Be as specific as possible.
In the past, I managed a New Zealand Travel Guide ezine, and targeted people I knew wanted to learn more about beautiful New Zealand before they arrived in my home country.
Research and write down the characteristics of your target audience.
Age, Where do they live?, Household income? What do they want to do in New Zealand?
See wildlife, long country drives, scenic tours, expore the Lord the Rings set?.
The content of my ezine reflects my audience's desires. I would only promotes tours I know my readers will be interested in. Then I would if I wanted too, attract advertisers, who are looking to target my readers and advertise in my ezine.
What is your ezine's purpose?
Is your ezine solely used to advertise your products to customers?
Is your ezine used to tell your customers useful and helpful product tips? e.g
how to make your product last longer? go faster?, etc.,
Is your ezine used to announce new exciting product innovations?
Even educate readers, who are not yet customers, the history, advances, benefits,
reasons why your product "x" is better than your competitor's?
Or sell heavily disconnected stock in one day only sales?
Maybe you want to achieve all of the above in your ezine. Maybe you only want to focus
on educating readers with helpful product tips.
Maybe you want to have one ezine for customers emphasising new special upgrade offers
and product tips. And another ezine targeting readers, who are not yet customers, the
history, advances, benefits, reasons why your product "x" is better than your competitor's?
You decide. It's important to have an ezine plan of action. Then concentrate on making
high-value ezine's packed with inspiring and editorial content.
