Choose the best web host you can afford.

You need a web host to store your site. This is where your site lives. The actual web host you choose will tell you how to upload your site to them whenever you need too.

It's no secret, when you purchase any type of productor service, you usually get what you pay for.

The same applies to web hosting. Typically, you willneed to spend USD $20 per month,to get fantastic web hosting for your web business. This will normally guaranteeyour site uptime is 99.9%, an easy to use controlpanel to monitor your site's statistics andcheck your email. These are the minimum expectations.

However, if you can't afford this, there are hostingcompanies with great reputations charging around USD $10 per month.

I personally don't recommend signing up for a one year contract. Pay month by month withno contact. Some hosting companies may changeownership, become to big for themselves toosoon, not upgrading their servers quick enough andhave no backup bandwidth suppliers.

If this happens, your site could go down for days onend, with no estimated time ofrestoring your site anytime soon. In one case, awebsite I previously managed was down for 5 days, due to a hosting company that became too big foritself, and didn't upgrade their servers quickenough. Five days of business lost with no apology. Not happy, Jan.

Don't under-estimate how bad a few cheap hostingcompanies will be. It's not unusual, forcheap hosts have to have 500 sites crowded in onecomputer box, forgetting to service their customersprofessionally, and thinking about saving every extra cent, and notupgrading their servers until the verylast minute. Often the hard drive will need to failand the power supply to start blowing blue smokebefore anything happens.

Always have another web host in mind in case your webhost goes goes belly up.

Better still, have your site mirrored elsewhere, soanother copy of your site willbe displayed if your first host goes down. The top 100sites will no-doubt have theirin-demand site mirrored several times on differentcomputers around the world. Minutesof site down-time, for big companies may equal'shundreds of lost orders, lowering profit.

This raps up the first portion of the business and charity web hosting guide.
